Almost everyone in their childhood days used to own a Secret Diary. There, they would write slam pages, lyrics to their favorite songs, any incident or event when they were especially happy or sad. I definitely was one of them. I had multiple diaries of different sizes but I never completed writing one. I used to leave them halfway and gradually, as I grew older, I drifted away them.
Q. So, how did I instill the urge for journaling again as an adult, not from time to time but daily?
A. There are three events that directly or indirectly pushed me to start journaling daily. I will talk about one of them today and I will delve into the remaining two events tomorrow.
Movie: The Rum Diary (2011), starring Johnny Depp and Amber Heard:
In the light of the infamous Depp v. Heard court trials, the world as well as I got pretty wound up around the horrific incidents that enfolded between the couple. Out of sheer curiosity, I wanted to know how they met each other. And that was in the sets of The Rum Diary. Well, this is how I stumbled upon this gem of a movie which is based on the life of an American journalist, Paul Kemp, who takes up a job in Puerto Rico at a local newspaper as a journalist. His character maintains a journal in which he would write something daily and that made me want to have a journal of my own where I could write something daily. But this wasn’t enough to push me to start journaling right away.
